Which cheap software with control point functions (U point or similar (or whatever it was called)) would you recommend? I don't know if he has issued a D850 update yet but I'm sure there will be lots of people asking him to. I use Raw2Nef to convert my D810 files so that I can continue to use Capture NX2. He has updated his program a couple of times to support more recent models and it now converts D500 and D5 files too. Thankfully a great guy called Miguel Bañón wrote a conversion program called Raw2Nef that allowed you to convert the newer Nef files into a version that could be opened in Capture NX2.
So it wasn't possible to process Nef files from cameras released after that. Nikon quit supporting Capture NX2 after the D4 and D800 were released. Yes, I could convert the D850 RAW with NXD and work on jpeg ot TIFF files afterwards in NX2, but that's a bit too complicated.
